Berry Sauce

For a special breakfast, serve Whole-Wheat Banana Pancakes
with sliced bananas and Berry Sauce.
Husband-Tested in Alice’s Kitchen
Makes about 1 cup

Use some of this delicious sauce to make your own flavored yogurt, to pour over pancakes or waffles, to drizzle over cake or ice cream.  You can even add some to milk for a special treat.  This recipe can be easily doubled.  Sieve out the seeds to make the sauce especially smooth.

¾ cup frozen berries (blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.)
1½ - 2 Tablespoons pure maple syrup (Use less if the berries are really sweet.)
¼ cup water

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.  Bring to a light simmer.
Cook until the berries have softened, about 5-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and puree with a hand immersion blender or countertop blender.
Use immediately or store in the fridge for later.
Stir some Berry Sauce into your yogurt for a "real food" snack.
