Homemade Brown Sugar

Recipe from Martha Stewart and Tested in Alice's Kitchen

I've been baking all my life and didn't know that brown sugar could be made right at home. I was watching a recent episode of Martha Stewart in which a woman wrote in asking how to make homemade brown sugar. Of course, Martha had the answer. It's a cinch. It's a handy way to always have brown sugar on hand without having to buy a large bag of it when you might only need a small amount. You can buy sugar and molasses at the Lost River Market & Deli. Here's the recipe!

Light Brown Sugar
Place 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 Tablespoon molasses in a food processor.
Pulse until completely blended.

Dark Brown Sugar
Place 1 cup of granulated sugar and 3 Tablespoon molasses in a food processor.
Pulse until completely blended.

Recipe can be doubled.
