Garlic Toasted Baguettes

Recipe from Martha Stewart
Husband-Tested in Alice's Kitchen

These toasts are crunchy, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned with garlic, Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper! These will be a hit when you serve them alongside your favorite pasta, soup or salad.  They couldn't be easier to make.  Here's how!

You will need:
1 baguette, sliced crossway about an inch or so thick
Olive oil
1 or 2 cloves fresh garlic, peeled
Kosher salt or Sea salt
Freshly ground pepper

Set the broiler on 500°F.
Brush each slice of baguette with olive oil and place them on a sheet pan.
Place the pan under the broiler.
Watch carefully!!  When the baguette slices look toasted on one side, remove the pan from the oven.
Using tongs to hold each slice as you work, rub each slice with the garlic clove.  Sprinkle with Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.
Flip the baguette slices over and repeat the steps above with the other side.
Serve with pasta, soup, salad or as a base for appetizers.
